No I have not joined college back nor am I talking about some new certification introduced by Microsoft. I am talking about a course run by my office called "Design Patterns". My office has started this university concept where we need to undertake new courses being introduced. In the process we need to complete certain assignments and finally take up 1 big exam. What will this earn us - some credits and a chance to get a promotion. In fact, this is the only way that we can get a promotion.
And now, we are presented with this new course on the Design Patterns. The course had started 2 weeks back and I have not even started looking at the course material. I just happen to know that we need to complete and submit a single assignment that is composed of 3 design patterns which a brief about our choice for the patterns.
Looks like this will be a long weekend for poor me. :(

My latest assignment - Silverlight 2.0
I was working on this new module I have been assigned in office when I came across Silverlight. Actually, I had to convert a WPF application into silverlight. The straight forward reason being - if it is on the web it is accessible from every where.
The conversion was not a straight forward one as Silverlight differs from WPF in a lot of ways. It supports a lot of things differently then WPF - backround images, brushes, control templates etc.
Silverlight can be made to run on any browser that has the Silverlight plugin installed - its 4.8 MB. Actually, the plugin is nothing but a mini CLR. Just as in Java, to run applets u needed JRE, in .NET to run Silverlight u need Silverlight plugin.
Silverlight applications are actually downloaded on the client and are actually run from the client machine only. Therefore, every user is actually running his own copy of the application. This brings Silverlight application quite close to windows programming with the difference that it runs in a browser.
There is not a lot of help about Silverlight on the net but http://www.silverlight.net can help u figure out answers to common programming tasks.
One more thing worth mentioning here is the WebClient class that helps u to receive response from a Uri. I leave it up to u guys to explore it in more details. However, it was something I required to get my job done :).
I m really satisfied things have come out and look to present it to my boss on Monday morning.
Cheers

UPA all the WAY!!
The verdict is out - its UPA (United Progressive Alliance) that has secured the majority in the Lok Sabha Elections 2009. In a much anticipated end to the election process that took place in 5 phases it was the UPA that had came out triumphant leaving the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) in dismay. The NDA surely needs to go back to drawing board to plan out their strategy while they still in the opposition for a straight 2ND time.
As far as I can remember, BJP/NDA really came into the big picture when Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpai formed a coalation government. Actually, it was then that the NDA was born. That government was actually could not complete its term.
Since then it has been Congress all the way. They romped in Sonia Gandhi which really provided them a boost and result was a Congress lead UPA government. Mrs. Gandhi clearly the differece this time around between the 2 sides and emerged as a National level leader.
I believe, this time too Congress had a clear picture about what they wanted to do. They brought Rahul Gandhi into the picture and started projecting him as the future. Gandhi junior was soon joined in by his sister Priyanka too. Rahul made it clear that he impress himself upon the nation as its future leader and also try and become popular among the youth. And now it can be safely said that the strategy has paid off.
On the other hand, after Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpai, BJP could never find National level leader who they can project as Prime Minister. BJP chief, Mr. Adavni is not really famous and that is not a secret. He is viewed as a hard-nosed politician who puts Hinduism before everything else. BJP had some able leaders and it is hard to figure out where they have disappeared. Call it a lackluster policy or a power game inside BJP itself, leaders like Mrs. Sushma Swaraj could never come up to the level they were capable off.
Anyways, for the time being, in fact for the next 5 years it looks to be UPA.

Jub sawan mein tanha bhegoge
Jub sawan mein tanha bhegoge
Jub aangan ko suna paoge
Jub sahil se takrati lehron mein
Tum door kahin kho jaaogay
Jub khud se baatein karte-2
Tum aapni tanhai meon kho jaaogay
Aur dil ki baat chupane ko
Tum humse nazar churaogay
Jub raat ke tanha damaan mein
Tum chand ko aadha paaogay
Main tum se mohabat karta hoon
Har bar yeh sunna chahogay
Un sab lamhon mein jaan lena
Ki tum tum nahi, hum banjaogay
Jub aangan ko suna paoge
Jub sahil se takrati lehron mein
Tum door kahin kho jaaogay

Masoom mohabat ka itna sa fasana hai
Masoom mohabat ka itna sa fasana hai
Kagaz ki haveli hai barish ka zamana hai
Kya shart-e-mohabat hai, kya shart-e-zamana hai
Awaaz bhi zakhmi hai aur geet bhi gana hai
Us par utarne ki umeed bahut kum hai
Kashti bhi purani hai tofaan ko bhi aana hai
Woh samjhe ya na samjhe andaaz mohabaat ke
Ek shaks ko aankhon se ek sher sunana hai
Bholi si ada koi phir ishq ki had pur hai
Phir aag ka daria hai, phir doob ke jana hai
Kagaz ki haveli hai barish ka zamana hai

Koi Dewana Kehta Hai - by Dr. Kumar Vishwas
Koi deewana kehta hain koi pagal samjhta hai,
magar dharti ki bechaini ko bas badal samjhta hai,
Main tujhse dur kaisa hu,tu mujhse dur kaisi hai,
Yeh tera dil samjhta hai ya mera dil samjhta hai
mohobbat ek ehsason ki paawan si kahaani hai,
kabhi kabira deewana tha kabhi meera diwaani hai,
Yahaan sab log kehte hain meri aakho mein aansu hai,
Jo tu samjhe toh moti hain jo na samjhe to paani hai
Bahut bikhra bahut toota thapede seh nahi paaya,
Hawaaon ke ishaaron par magar main beh nahi paaya,
Adhoora an suna hi reh gaya youn pyaar ka kissa,
Kabhi tum sun nahi paaye, kabhi main keh nahin paaya
Bhramar koi kumudni par machal baitha toh hungama,
Humare dil mein koi khwaab pal baitha toh hungama,
Abhi tak doob kar sunte the sab kissa mohobbat ka,
Main kisse ko hakikat mein badal baitha toh hungama
Main uska hun wo is ehsaas se inkaar karta hai,
Bhari mehfil mein bhi ruswaa har baar karta hai,
yaki hai saari duniya ko khafa hai humse woh lekin,
Mujhe maaloom hai phir bhi mujhi se pyaar karta hai
Main jab bhi tez chalta hoon nazaare choot jate hain,
Koi jab roop gadhta hoon to saanche toot jate hain,
Main rota hoon to aakar log kandha thap thapate hain,
Main hasta hoon to mujhse log aksar rooth jate hain
Mat poooch ki kya haal hai mera tere aage,
Tu dekh ke kya rang hain tera mere aage
Samandar peer ka andar hain lekin ro nahi sakta,
Yeh aasu pyaar ka moti hain isko kho nahi sakta,
Meri chahat ko dulhan tu bana lena magar sun le,
Jo mera ho nahi paaya woh tera ho nahi sakta
sazi hai khushnuma mehfil sabhi dildaar bethe hain
jidhar dekho udhar hi ishq ke bimar bethe hain
hanseeno ki adaon pe sabhi dil haar bethe hain
hazaron mar-mite aur sekron tayaar bethe hain
magar dharti ki bechaini ko bas badal samjhta hai,
Main tujhse dur kaisa hu,tu mujhse dur kaisi hai,

After 6 long Years!!
After 6 years
OK, folks a bit of history for every one's benefit. Like all educated men, I also had the opportunity to attend a school when I was young. My school years had not really been eventful as I was more focused on my studies. But 2001-2002 was a different year. And this was the year that changed me in more than a few ways. This was the year I first fell in love with a girl. We use to meet at our tutions and that was where I got to know her. When, it was my final day of tution before the big board exams and I knew this may be the last time I'll be able to see her, I proposed her. And she refused. Well, folks it has been 6 years since that day and I had not seen her. We have been in touch via phone/ emails/ chats for the last 2-3 years, since I re-discovered her on the Internet. One big thanks to ORKUT for that.
I had asked her a few times to meet up but she never entertained the idea. And after trying a few times, even I had given up any hopes of meeting her again. But 06 May 2009 was a different day. I was returning home from my day job with my office colleague in my office cab when the idea of having a chicken roll hit one of us. We left the cab around Venkateshwara college and headed straight to one of the famous Roll shops in Satya Niketan.
As, I was just standing at the shop, chit-chatting with my colleagues, a familiar face passed by. I instantly knew it was her. She went into a shop. I could not resist, picked up my phone and called her. She acknowledged and came around to say "Hi". We had a brief chat wherein she did not miss to mention that I have put on a lot of weight. And then she had to move as her car-pool buddy was waiting for her.
Surprisingly, I did not feel the attraction I use to feel when I was in school. And frankly, she was not looking like anything she use to look like. Maybe it was just infatuation then. I did not feel anything for her. I even mentioned this to her the next day we had a chat. I know that was mean from my side but could not help it, it is in nature to be outspoken and a bit blunt at times.
All said and done, know I now she was not meant for me and and I thanked god and more importantly her for not letting me have her when I had a chance.
Therefore, 2 things are clear. First, I am still single and Second, I am desperate not to be.
